Susan
Aldworth took a degree in philosophy at Nottingham University
prior to studying printmaking at Sir John Cass School of Art
in London. Her most recent work focuses on the human brain
and issues of personal identity. She was awarded a major Arts
Council Visual Arts Grant in 2005 to pursue her work on consciousness
as Artist in Residence at The Royal London Hospital. The work
from this project will be exhibited in a series of solo exhibitions,
Matter into Imagination, in London in June-September 2006.
She is also Artist in Residence at London Metropolitan University
working on a ground-beaking series of etchings. She has exhibited
widely most recently at Cheltenham Festival of Science 2004,The
Whitechapel (Education Room) 2002 and the V&A 1999,2000 &2002.
She received an Arts Council Grant to devise and curate a
permanent collection of Outsider Art, The East Wing Collection,
for Homerton Hospital in 2003. Her work is held in many private
and permanent collections. She is a curator for ING Bank art
projects. She lectures, part time, at Norwich School of Art
and Design.
