Harry Witchel received his Ph.D. in
Physiology from the University of California at Berkeley,
and has since continued his research at the Medical School
in Bristol (UK). He is often invited to give lectures at multinational
corporations, prestigious academic institutions and government
regulatory bodies including Pfizer, Novartis, Harvard and
the MHRA (Institute of Directors, London). In 2003 he was
a Visiting Professor at the University of Florence, Italy,
and in 2004 he received the national honour of being awarded
by the British Association for the Advancement of Science
The Charles Darwin Award Lecture. Dr. Witchel has been consulting
at the level of Director of Biology for Electronic Biosciences,
a San Diego/Washington-based nanotechnology start-up. He also
consults and lectures in the business and legal community
on topics concerning communication, assessment and education.
His writings on these topics have appeared nationally in The
Financial Times, The Times Higher Educational Supplement and
the Times Educational Supplement.
Dr. Witchel also inspires young people
for the future. For the last two years he has appeared regularly
on BBC Television's Mind Games. He is a very popular lecturer
at science festivals throughout the UK, including the Winchester
Festival of Art and the Mind, and the Cheltenham Festival
of Science, where he and Dr. Andrew Bass have given a series
of sold out lectures every year since its inception. He has
also participated in many other public programmes for The
Royal Society, The Royal Institution, Midweek with Libby Purves
on Radio 4, Café Scientifique, the Dana Centre for the Brain,
and the University of Bristol, where his most recent lecture
broke all the attendance records in the three year history
of their lecture series.
